U-Boat Document Set. Extremely rare set to a crew member of U-375 comprising his prewar documents for the Sudeten and Memel Medals as a crew member of the Destroyer Georg Thiele, together with the document for the U-Boat War Badge issued for combat in the Mediterranean ( documents to Mediterranean U-Boats are extremely rare) and most interesting, his ID pas serving as a military policeman in the port of Swinemünde. U-375 was sunk with all hands on 10 July 1943. £500
Very interesting set of documents to an engineering officers who was L.I. on U-595.
The officer in question, Baron Emmerich von Mirbach was a relative of Götz von Mirbach, the E-Boat ace. He served on U-595 under the command of Kapitänleutnant Jürgen Quaet-Faslem until it was sunk in the Mediterranean, He survived the sinking and was taken prisoner by the British. £300
The set comprises the following documents
1. Service contract signed by von Mirbach when he became an officer. All professional officers were required to contract for an unlimited period of time.
2. Certificate of training to show that von Mirbach had completed his training as an engineering Fähnrich.
3. Certificate of training to show that von Mirbach had completed training as a U-Boat engineering officer.
4. Promotion document for von Mirbach's commissioning from Fähnrich to Leutnant (Ing) with signature of Grossadmiral Raeder
5. Further promotion document from Leutnant (Ing) to Oberleutnant (Ing).Again issued by Raeder but on this later document the signature is an inkßstamped facsimilie
6. Postwar document issued by the British authorities confirming details of von Mirbach's service.

To Alfred Laudehr, a crew member of U-299. This was a Type VIIC/41 boat launched in 1944 and operating out of various bases in Norway ( Bergen, Trondheim and Narvik). She was commanded by Oberleutnant Heinrich, Oberleutnant Zehle and Oberleutnant Emde. The boat survived the war, as did Laudehr. The set comprises the award documents for
a) War Merit Cross2nd Class with Swords.
b). U-Boat War Badge. This is the extremely rare A5 sized late war version.
c). U-Boat Front Clasp in Bronze
Additionally there are 72 associated photos, all U-Boat related including launch ceremony, training, on board, crew members with commander in white top cap, the U-Boot Heim in Norway etc etc, many are stamped on the reverse with the official censor stamp. A sample selection are shown here.

Mini Knights Cross of War Merit Cross
Stickpin miniature of the Knights Cross without Swords combined with the First Class with Swords. These were supplied, cased, with the buttonhole miniature. Extremely rare £175 SOLD

Rare 1914 Convex Iron Cross First Class with side hooks
One of the most desirable and rare versions of the 1914 Iron Cross First Class. Made by Godet for the private purchase market, it features the firms name GODET BERLIN on the pin, is lightly vaulted and features the distinctive retaining hooks on the reverse of the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock arms. An extremely rare and desirable piece seldom found on the market these days. Tiny blob of excess solder on the top of the top arm, otherwise in excellent condition. £400. ON HOLD
Imperial U-Boat Badge. Nice example of the Imperial German Navy U-Boat Badge. The style of pin and hinge fitting and the base material being Zink indicates this is a Third Reich period manufactured piece, made for supply to WW1 veterans who wished to purchase additional examples. Despite having lost its gilt finish, condition is good and detail sharp.

Honour Roll Clasp of the Luftwaffe. This original wartime example obtained from Detlev Niemann was a leftover unfinished piece from factory stock which had had the wrong type of pins added postwar. These have been removed and the piece restored with the correct Luftwaffe style flat prongs. Comes complete with full length original Iron Cross ribbon and the Detlev Niemann Certificate of Authenticity. Good opportuinity to obtain this rare award at well under half the normal price due to its restoration. £400
